Sunshine Blogger Award!

Hey everybody~
I was recently nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by two lovely people: loladiamond01 aka Jowita of Never Do It Again and Lila Remonn of The Kingston Legacy. They are both the sweetest people and if you haven’t checked out their legacies I suggest you do so~ 🙂 Thanks guys! ❤

What is it?
The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

The Rules:

  1. In a blog post, thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or your blog.

Now, on to the questions which I shall answer in the order that I saw them in my reader~

Jowita’s Questions:

  1. What do you most enjoy about being a member of the WordPress community?
The people! Whilst reading and discovering different stories has also been a fun part of joining this community, the writers/bloggers behind them are just so thoughtful, kind and supportive it makes writing my own stories in addition to reading theirs so much more enjoyable ❤
  2. How often do you check to see if there’s anything new out here on WordPress?
I usually check around twice a day regularly, but if it’s a day I’m posting a chapter or expecting a story I’m currently following to be posted, that goes up to around five times or so XD
  3. What makes you call a person a skillful writer?
Anyone who takes the time to write out a story to me is already a skilled writer because it’s hard sometimes to convert thoughts you have in your head onto paper. Evoking emotions and causing people to become attached to characters or the story being written is just a bonus.
  4. What do you do when you feel like you’re stuck on a particular storyline and don’t know where to take it? [for the story-driven blogs]
I tend to think quite far into the future for the stories I write, so I don’t usually get stuck (thankfully) at any point in the storyline I’m crafting. If I do pause, it’s usually because I’m deliberating on the best way to deliver particular story point through words or actions…
  5. The prettiest Sim you’ve ever had in your game?
Since you’ve said in game and not in story, I shall not mention any of my protagonists/antagonists or supporting characters, and instead introduce the face of my site (header/pages/avatar) whom was at one point in time going to have a story of her own, and instead turned into my ‘face’, lol.
Here are some more of her shots:Untitled collage copy
  6. Your favorite couple in your gameplay/stories?
Hmmm, excluding future couples I’ve yet to establish/introduce, I’d have to say Mai & Chad in my current story Sight are my favorite. Which may come as a surprise to those currently reading it as they haven’t been shown as much as I would’ve liked to, haha. They are so chill and both have likeable personalities, which I shall hope to bring to light as the story progresses.

  7. Your favorite non-romantic relationship in your gameplay/stories?
Ah, this one is hardddd. I’d have to say JD and Aislyn in Sight.
  8. Have you had a Sim that you fell in love with right away?
Yes! Haha, Sebastian (from The Elite, R.I.P) :’) He was just all around lovely; the slight opposite of me in being able to control anger, be super responsible, and have a high tolerance for things, plus he wasn’t hard to look at XD.
  9. If you ever did any storylines, what is the one you’re most proud of? If you didn’t, post the oldest picture from your save.
Aislyn’s ghost-seeing ability along with JD’s mysterious backstory are tied for me and are becoming contenders for being the longest story/storylines I’ve managed to stick to thus far. I’ve kind of toned down their role in Sight at the moment, but I do plan on revealing just how/why she got the ability along with who exactly JD was and what happened to him, and assuming I stick to what I had planned on from before I even began writing the story, I’m quite proud of how they shall turn out 🙂
  10. Have you had any Sims that remind you of someone
In my about page I’ve mentioned that all of my protagonists have aspects of my personality that seep into them, and I think that stems from my desire to humanize them and make them flawed. Other than that, there’s no overlap between my characters and real people whatsoever.
  11. Is there any random fact about your blog story you want to share?
I’ve also mentioned this before, but I’ll reiterate it because there isn’t much else interesting about my blog aside from the fact that it’s my second one. The first one I created was so old and limited in what I could post and how I could post it that I deleted it XD That was five years ago and it’s safe to assume I’m much more pleased with this one and hope to stick with it for the long run~

Lila’s Questions

  1. Which of your characters can you relate most to, and why?
I relate mostly to Irene in The Elite, because I’m quite passionate about a lot of things and tend to speak my mind even in situations when I probably shouldn’t XD
  2. How often do you work on your story?
Nowadays, since I haven’t worked ahead like I had when I began, quite often, even though I do try to take a few weeks worth of screenshots per simming session. I brainstorm what I want to include in a particular chapter in the beginning of the week, set aside a day or two for hours of gameplay in the middle, and spend most of the weekend writing.
  3. What is your favorite genre of simlit?
I love romance; I’ll always be a sucker for it because seeing the journey of two people grow fond of one another is just heartwarming. I can read just about anything though, and mystery is a very close second.
  4. Is there a personal tip for story writing that you might like to share?
Hmm, I’m struggling as I go along so I don’t know if I’m the best person to give advice, but I’d just say that writing something you’d like to read is a good mindset to be in when you’re trying to write.
  5. What kind of protagonists do you like the most?
The ones that you don’t have to yell at from your computer/tablet/phone whilst reading because you are frustrated with the actions they are taking.

My 11 6 nominations: (Because I still have a relatively small circle of bloggers I follow & read, most of my bloggers have already been selected and I don’t wish to burden them with repeat nominations, hence the shortened list*)

  1. Winters Valley
  2. Cornucopia of SimLit
  3. The Mayfields
  4. Teatime Tuesday Reviews
  5. MurderValleySims
  6. SamAsASim

* If you’ve already been nominated and I somehow tagged you again, sorry in advance XD

My Questions:

  1. From the moment you begin working on a chapter/blog post, how long does it take to get everything done? (From acquiring the photos, writing the text, adjusting the format, editing… etc…)
  2. Have you far ahead have you thought of what you plan on writing about/posting on a particular day?
  3. How often does what you’ve seen on a day to day basis affect what you post?
  4. What’s a song you can listen to on repeat over and over again and not grow tired of?
  5. Is there something you were once afraid of that you’ve managed to conquer?
  6. How long has it been since you’ve last laughed to tears?
  7. Is there a particular piece of art or literature that you are extremely fond of?
  8. Where’s the last place you’ve traveled to?
  9. What’s the main thing you want to get across/convey with the chapters you make/posts you write?
  10. Have you ever taken down something you’ve posted because you weren’t satisfied with it in hindsight?
  11. Lastly, would you share a quote you live by?

Thanks again for the nominations! I look forward to seeing the responses of those I’ve selected 🙂
Take care~
xoxo Amy

  1. Nice answers!
Mai and Chad do seem like a good couple in a healthy relationship! Totally not like Gus and Aislyn lol.
You mentioned you take a few weeks of pictures in one session- wow, how long is each session?

    1. Haha yeah, I don’t like to play super often out of fear of killing my computer again :’) So when I do it’s for around 3-4 hours-ish – typically if I have to build all the rooms/locations for a particular chapter, make new characters, and change everybody else’s wardrobe and whatnot – and 1.5-2 hours if I don’t. Then I take about 300-400 screenshots on average per game session since I tend to take pics of the same scene from multiple angles. And because I only post one chapter a week, those photos can last for about 2-3 weeks depending on the length I make the chapters (which end up being long more often than not XD)
Feel free to let me know how your set-up/tactics are for your story writing, I’m curious if I’m abnormal or not 🙂

      1. 300-400?! Holy crap that’s a lot, especially for that few hours. And your shots still manage to look good!
I don’t what my set up will be with my new computer, but during my last chapters, I played either one hour per day or per week depending if school was on. And then, it was very lucky if I managed to take more than five screenshots per hour 😅 I’m the opposite of you, I spend a lot of time trying to find that perfect angle for one shot LOL. But the time taken was mostly due to my game lagging extremely hard and crashing all the time (+my fussing over outfits and settings). I think we are on polar ends of the spectrum here 😂

      2. Lol, I had a feeling I was a tad too extreme… 😅 It’s just cause sometimes when I take only one or two shots there’s a sim blinking or something that looks glitchy in the background and then I can’t use it so I take like 5 to be safe – which only adds more time when it comes to choosing the final pics for the chapter, lol. Your photos were stunning though so I can see the effort that went into angling/taking them on your part 😊 My computer lags too and overheats so those four hours are broken up into multiple mini one hour sessions most of the time 😂😭

      3. That much photos? Oh dear. I’ve had it easy with my photos ever since Sam got into martial arts, lol. I just take pictures of his sparrings over and over again and pretend you guys aren’t as sick of it as I am XD

  2. Thank you so much for the nomination, and congratulations for your award!
I’m excited to see Mai and Chad’s relationship, and I gotta read your latest chapter after this!
Your prettiest Sim is gorgeous, by the way!
Your answers were entertaining to read 🙂 Once again, thank you ❤

  3. I agree, the people here are amazing and it’s really the reason why I stayed here so long and want to stay.
Don’t worry, I check most of my day XD And especially when I know Kymber’s Noble Doubt chapter is about to be published.
Yes, emotions! I look up to anyone who can make me cry with their writing.
I tend to think far, but I usually know more about the future of the story than the present.
Your avatar really is pretty? Yes, I said “game” on purpose, because I thought of the people who had more than one story and might want to tell about someone else. Also, if it was the story, you’d probably say Aislyn.
    I loved Sebastian, too! 😥
Your “simming sessions” seem to involve a lot of work. Kudos to you.
Oh god, Sam is your least favorite protagonist XD

    1. Yup, the atmosphere here is just the best 😊 thank you! Haha you’re right, Aislyn would’ve been my next choice 😂 And omg that boy is all kind of frustrating, haha but it’s cool to see how different he is from his parents, and I haven’t completely given up on him yet XD

  4. Congratulations for your award! 😀 ❤ Your avatar is indeed soooo pretty, thank you for sharing her extra photos of her! 😄 Sebastian was indeed a great character, although I believe Cailean is coming very close? I think he's equally shy, sweet and polite (athough not so formal)! Oh, and equally (if not more) handsome <3At least those are the vibes I'm getting from him, correct me if I got it wrong 🙂
I do the same with pictures! I take a crapload; from different angles etc and then decide which one is best!
I loved reading your answers, congrats again!! ❤

  5. Thank you for the nomination! ❤ it was so nifty to read your answers. I definitely agree that the range of emotions I feel is the sign of a good writer. It might seem silly to some to fall so deeply in love with fictional characters and their lives, but I love it!
