Genderbend Challenge & Sunshine Blogger Award #3

Hey everybody,
I bet you weren’t expecting another post from me so soon. Well at the tail end of my blogiversary post I added a little genderbent (genderbended? lol) photo of Caislyn as a little bonus, partly because I had a lot of fun doing it and partly because I was pleasantly surprised at how they came out. I know most of you guys probably abhor spending more time in CAS than you need to, so I didn’t want to pressure y’all by forcing you to partake in the challenge, but since a lot of you responded well to it, I figured I’d share some more pics I took of some of my other characters and now make this a more legitimate sort of challenge and formalize my previously informal tag, lol.

Even though this is technically a ‘challenge’ I don’t want to stick any rules into it since it is just for fun~ so whether you have one story or several, and want to do one character or many spanning several gens, feel free to take a crack at it and do whatever you’d like 😊

Again, no pressure, but I am quite looking forward to seeing how a lot of your characters look with their genders swapped as Jowita, Sempreviva, and Louise already went ahead and did some of theirs and I believe they are just as fun to see as they are to make~

(Chad and Mai do not get individual shots because they came out quite tragically and I shall spare you from seeing more of them, lol. Since all the others looked alright, I figured they would too, but I was wrong, haha. Chad looks like a witch, lmao.)

I have to say, I thought Aislyn and Cailean came out quite well, but Gus is my favorite, haha. There is something… soft? I don’t know if that’s the right word, or may friendly is what I’m looking for… anyways, something that draws you in about his face XD If I had to rank them all I’d say:
Gus > Aislyn > Cailean > Kimberly > Mai = J.D. >>> Chad.
I look forward to seeing the re-created characters of those of you haven’t gotten around to them yet~ again, no pressure. Now, I shall formally tag:

Lila Remonn

I was also planning on tagging, Neverdoitagain, Sempreviva, and NotJustABook, but as I mentioned earlier, they already done it so I’ve linked their challenges for y’all to check out if you haven’t already 🙂

Anyone else who happens to see this and wants to partake in it I encourage you to go right ahead~ 😀

Another thing I mentioned in my blogiversary was that I was kindly nominated again for this award by freja64 of The Grey Witches~ She also nominated me for the versatile blogger award which I shall humbly accept but not post for because I had such a difficult time thinking of interesting things to share about me for the last one, and I’m not nearly interesting enough to even attempt to do that again, haha 😂 It’s quite late so I won’t bother re-stating the rules or tagging anyone, forgive me. I hope you enjoy~

  1. Why did you start writing?
I don’t remember what exactly was crossing my mind when I began my first story. I can say that I continued to do so as a means of sharing the many ideas that came to mind. I love the feeling of building worlds and characters, and seeing others enjoy reading them and develop an attachment to them as well~
  2. Where do you write your stories?
I’m assuming this is referring to my creative space, in which case that is the desk in my room 🙂 and if you mean digitally, I use word so I can catch any writing mistakes I may make, and also a little notebook I carry around in case I’m suddenly inspired. It is also where I keep track of all my character names in addition to the worlds/cities/settings I make.
  3. Do you write the story first or are you inspired by your gameplay?
I’ve mentioned this before, but my games are prone to disasters, haha, so I hardly let the game drive the story. I also tend to think of everything I want to convey event-wise prior to playing, so I don’t ever need to rely on the game to help me propel a story along.
  4. Have you ever used a version of “yourself” in a story?
Nope, never. Sometimes characteristics of mine seep into the characters I make, but I’d never re-create myself or anyone I know into a game, frankly because I think it’d be odd, especially if something unfortunate were to occur – which in my game is often the case.
  5. Do you listen to music while writing / playing? If yes, what kind?
Yup! I like to listen to movie soundtracks or other kinds of instrumental music most of the time – though I enjoy listening to any genre –  just because if I listen to anything with lyrics I’ll get distracted and sing along which shall deter me from my sim playing. Things like the Harry Potter or DC/Marvel movie soundtracks would be an example or instrumental versions of any Disney movie songs :3
  6. What kind of books do you read and why?
I usually pick up anything, that upon reading the premise, seems like an interesting plot; occasionally the cover of a book will play a role in whether I pick it up or not, hehe~ I rarely read straight-up romances, but I don’t mind fantasy, action or any other kind of fictional stories with romance interwoven into them. I primarily enjoy mysteries because I like to sleuth as I read.
  7. Which of your characters could be your roomie?
I have to say I think I’d get along with most of the characters in my story, so any of them would be cool, but if I had to pick just one I’d say Aislyn, but not the current Aislyn you guys know – as she’s kind of a downer – the newly transformed Aislyn I’m well acquainted with that you shall see once the story returns 😉
  8. Have you ever imagined getting your story published?
No I haven’t, but partially because this is something I’ve crafted for fun more than anything; for myself, and the lovely members of this community.
  9. Have you already cried while writing something particularly moving?
I’ve never actually shed a tear, but attempting to work ahead on my current story did make me a bit emotional at times. I’m not much of a crier anyways, but who knows, maybe something will get me in the future.
  10. Is there someone who reads your stories and who gives you feedback before publishing?
Nope, haha, I am just a one man woman show.
  11. Have you ever wanted to be like one of your characters?
Like I mentioned before, a lot of my characters do resemble me, but there are elements I’ve given to a lot of them that I myself lack. I’d like to be as confident as J.D. for instance, I may be great at joking with and super talkative to those closest to me, but in front of total strangers I wouldn’t be able to be as outgoing right off the bat, and that kind of confidence is something he has in spades :p

Thanks for reading! I really enjoyed answering these questions. Thanks again for the nomination 🙂
I’m also really glad you guys like the challenge 😀 If you have a page where you keep track of your awards, challenges, and or tags like I do here, or if you just want to use something for the featured photo, I made a specialized badge below which you’re more than welcome to use.
[Fair warning, I’m no artist so feel free to make your own as well if you prefer XD]gbenfinal (1)Now, that should be it from me until something else comes along~ Take care and have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo Amy

  1. Ooh, I like Gus’s genderbend the most as well!
Thanks for the tag, I’m going to do it tonight, I’m quite excited to see what happens 😀 I have a feeling some of them may turn out horrible, because they have specifically feminine/masculine features, so I will probably include edited versions as well as the original. Nice badge by the way~
I agree with you about seeing other people form attachments to your characters. I know sometimes it’s the opposite of attachment (cough Luc cough) but it’s really great to see such strong reactions and thoughts.
Oh wow, you have a proper notebook! That’s great, usually everything is just crammed in my head lol.
I’m looking forward to meet the not-downer Aislyn 🙂
And man, I am so with you on getting emotional (but not crying). I was feeling a bit sad the other day, thinking what I’m just about to put Luc through.

    1. He surprisingly came out great, haha. Yay, can’t wait to see how they look~ the surprises are all apart of the fun 😂 Yeah the more distinct features don’t carry over well – so tweak away, haha I was too lazy to edit them so I just omitted the horrible ones like Otto and Lexi 🙅‍♀️ No one needs to see those…
Thanks! I felt crafty but it came out kinda childish lol 😂
Falling in love with the characters as well as the story is apart of what makes writing and reading so fun 😊 (I really can’t wait for the chapter after next because I’m dying to know the fallout from the events of last chapter but I also want to know Ebony’s situation so I’ll still be satisfied with the next 😇)
It’s really small so it’s easy to carry around in my backpack/purse – I’m afraid I’ll forget something so I have to have it, I don’t like writing on my phone although I occasionally will as a last resort 😅
Oh no, I was already looking forward to what’s to come but now I’m worried… but also still excited, hehe. Thanks for reading 💓

      1. Shouldn’t it be spelled “a part” in this case? Well, I noticed “a part” and “apart” being used as the same phrase in your writing. Sorry, I just couldn’t resist 😌

      2. Haha, it should be! As a writer I should be mindful of these things but I occasionally don’t pay attention in my haste~ I forget that English isn’t everyone’s first or only language on here, so I should probably be cautious to not perpetuate any errors – also it would be shameful to make silly mistakes since it is my only language lol 😂🙃 Thanks for pointing that out!

      3. Yeah, I think I’d point it out, because it’s important for a writer. I hoped you wouldn’t hate me, because you never know how people would react (but it’d been bothering me for a long time 😂). It sounds the same in pronunciation, but it’s not the same in writing. It feels unnatural to me, because I first learned to write in English and hence I can’t even make mistakes like messing up your/you’re, which is common for native speakers.

      4. You’re fine 😋 When I re-read my chapters I do notice the occasional misuse of not only apart/a part but the your/you’re here and there, but that’s because I’m focusing more on the diction of the dialogue than the actual spelling, which I shouldn’t lol. Before I get back to posting I’ll probably do a sweep to check because things like that bother me 😂

  2. Thanks for the tag. I will definitely have to do this with my characters.
Gus’s genderbend was really good, but I have to say that my favorite is JD. 🙂
And I would agree I would have Aislyn as a roomie, her or Mai would be cool.

    1. No problem! I hope you enjoy~ it’s quite fun to do 😊 J.D’s came out nice as well, but for some reason he looked much older, not sure why his age didn’t carry over well 😅
Mai was my close second, I went back and forth between the two, hehe.
      Thanks for reading!

  3. Thank you for the tag 😊
Aww, I’m so indecisive I can’t even pick who looks the best! But I’d probably have to say Gus as well. His (well, her) face looks pretty in a delicate way.
It was fun reading your answers. I also find it hard to focus when listening to music. Although I do write with music, I can never study as I unintentionally get distracted by the sound too. I need complete silence.

    1. No problem 😄 I’m Caislyn biased but I couldn’t deny I was charmed by Gus’ swapped self, haha 😆 Yeah studying with music is a no no for me, it’s so easy for a song to remind you of something or take you somewhere else. I hope you enjoy if/when you get around to partaking in the challenge 😊

  4. Wow, Gus really does look amazing! I think he’s my favourite of yours as well 😀
Thank you for making this post and the logo – as well as starting this challenge in the first place. It’s started a flurry of activity in our little community again and I just love the enthusiasm 🙂 I’ve added your badge to my post!
I’m a fan of mystery stories myself – as well as romantic subplots 😀 I also have a notebook for my story stuff. Use it for when I just need to jog my brain or remember stuff like age of characters and for making timelines and stuff 🙂
Loved your answers in general. This was great! 😀 ❤

    1. He was such a pleasant surprise 😄
No problem~ I saw! thanks for using it, haha I felt super artsy but wasn’t sure if the end product was that great 😂 I love participating in these challenges/tags as they go around, it was fun to get to start one, I’m glad everyone’s been so nice and interested 😊 Character ages is not something I’ve never been super mindful of except for thinking about when it’s relevant in the moment, hmm, I think you’ve just inspired me to add it to the book~
      Thank you 💕

  5. Like everyone else said, I looove Gus as a girl! So pretty! ❤ I do like Kimberly too tbh, and they match so well together – either at their normal genders or not! 😛😁 Which makes me veeery excited to see their relationship move forward! ❤
I like girl Chad! Lol! She's not stereotypically pretty, but she's very unique, and I think this tomboyish look you went for really suits her! 😀
I really look forward to seeing the new Aislyn! Although one of the reasons I wouldn't particularly want her as a roommate is her ability to talk to ghosts – I imagine waking up in the middle of the night and catching her having a conversation with absolutely nobody… I would totally freak, lmao!! 😂 But maybe it's one of the things you get used to, idk 😁
I've never cried either while writing or reading stories (alyhough I've come close), but I looove the feelings simlit is able to stir (I've had plenty of those)! That's one of the reasons why I love it (and this community) so much!
Okay, enough rambling lol, this was such a great challenge and I loved your award answers too! And of course I'm gonna steal *ahem, borrow* that badge! It's fabulous! ❤

    1. Gus definitely took the cake 😆 I had so much fun taking pics of him and Kim together, I realize that’s something that’s hardly been shown in the story so I can’t wait to delve into their relationship as well when I return 😊 You won’t be disappointed!
Haha, unique is a good word 😂
True, that would definitely be odd, but I figured it wouldn’t occur that often, lol.
Same here~ getting attached to and so absorbed in the worlds everyone creates is the best 😄
Aww thanks~ I love reading your thoughts. Haha, please borrow away! 💓

  6. Oh goodness, I’m very sorry to have left like that. I had just finished your post when I realized I had to go breakfast asap.
When you nominated me, I had no idea how this challenge was called and I loosely called my post “gender-swapping fun!”, because why not 😇 Maybe I should change that. I also think that many of us would forget about your loose nominations if not for my wild post which took me half a day 😅
Anyway, great badge and I will definitely add it to my post once I figure out if I can download some sort of Paint for my phone (hence I need a background and such).
You may be surprised, but I truly like female Chad (who you like the least). He has sort of a badass look to him/her/genderbent creature.
Oh wow, a material notebook. I only use the one on my phone – in fact even for this comment because it keeps vanishing while writing on WP.
I listen to music while I write, play, read. No problem for me!
Yup, a version of anyone in the story would be weird and limiting, because you would have it hard to do anything bad to them.

    1. No worries! You’re on your trip~ you should enjoy your time away from the digital world 😊 I wasn’t sure what to call it, haha anything you name it is fine!
Everyone sees things differently I guess, personally his features were too sharp for me 😆 I like making maps and charts so a phone notepad is too limited for my purposes~
      Thanks for reading! 💓

      1. Well, I can’t see myself doing this, because my handwriting is a mess and I’m no crafty. I like fonts for writing and notebook suits me fine, though words limit bothers me. And you can’t press ctrl+F on there or in your notebook. Whoops.

  7. I was sooo sure I commented on this, but maybe it’s ended up in spam? or I never pressed send, haha. Strange! But I thank you for the tag and if you don’t mind your eyes burning I’ve done four of my sims on my wordpress..

    Liked by 1 person

    1. No worries~ I did a quick sweep of the spam folder and you’re in the clear. (I don’t know why WP has a tendency to do that sometimes.) No problem, I just saw it on my reader and am about to check it out 😀

  8. Oh my! Gus is a looker! I really have to try this, the idea is excellent!

Thank you for answering my questions, they made me get to know you a little better! You were right, I was referring to the “creative” space in my question! I usually write wherever I can get my pen and notebook out, or in front of my computer in my little office at home. I also listen to movie tracks or classical music. When I listen to songs I usually sing along and that’s too distracting :# Aislyn seems like a good choice of roommate, I can’t wait to see what she has become when your story returns – because I really hope your One Woman Show continues! 

    1. Yay! I hope you have fun doing it 😀 Gus was surprisingly great looking, haha.
No problem~ thanks for nominating me, they were great! My desk is my go to spot 90% of the time but sometimes when ideas come to me on the go I jot them down in my notebook too so I can delve into them later on in my room~
I enjoy classical music as well, I’m trying to broaden my knowledge of those iconic pieces 🙂
Thank you, I can’t wait to return ❤
