Greetings everybody~

At some point I’m probably going to have more update posts than actual chapters *sigh* So, surprise – not really – there was no new post this week, and it wasn’t because I didn’t have time or anything (I actually set aside a few days to work on chapter 34 in peace) BUT because for some reason my game is failing on me now. I spent a couple of hours this past week trying to fix it to no avail, and since a lot of you are more techy and experienced when it comes to the sims than me, I thought I’d throw out an S.O.S. and see if you guys have any advice.

It’s not an in game issue, but a problem whilst I’m using the launcher itself… its just not running the game. I get an error whenever I hit that glorious giant play button and the whole application just shuts down on me with an error message.

I’ve already read a million FAQs and forums, but since you guys are scattered around the globe – one of the beauties of this little online community – perhaps your search efforts, if you’ve ever encountered such a thing before, yielded different results than mine so if you have any advice or links you’d like to send my way, go for it. No pressure though, if you’re just as confused as I am, then take this post as an explanation for yet another delay in the next chapter. I’m now majoring in hiatuses with a minor in inconsistent postings~

I hope you guys have an enjoyable week. I have a lot of things to do but I’m hoping I’ll be able to solve my technical issues at some point in time, so that next week when my workload lightens, I can get back to playing/writing… if not… well, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

  1. Sorry to hear your game is messing with you. I know there’s been a lot of issues with the latest Origin updates. Can you maybe post an error message so we can see what’s going on? I also think Kymber has been having some trouble, so maybe she knows what’s up. I personally haven’t had issues. Hope this gets resolved soon!

I’ve spent the entire day off of the computer after becoming extremely ticked off at its rebellion from letting me play 😤 but I shall take a screenshot during my next attempt to start it, which for now I’m holding off on 😪 For all I know that could be it, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see…

  2. I’m sorry, but I have no idea how to help you with this issue. My game’s fortunately doing quite well and I’m getting closer to actually being able to return to posting… Hope you can fix it. And, like Louise said, maybe Kymber knows what’s up.

      I was thinking that as well, but I tried running the game CC free and it still didn’t work 😤 *sigh*

      1. I’m going to screenshot your post. I will share it in the group. They won’t add you with a new Facebook account. I was having issue with my game, and one of the admins told me to install a software called Razer Cortex. Since downloading the software. My game doesn’t crush as often.

  4. Oh dear, I’ve never heard of this particular issue before 😶 I hope you can find a fix soon!
    I was actually hoping to see a new chapter from you when I just opened Reader a few minutes ago, but all good — I am feeling your frustration right now, even though my problem is not that bad. I really wanted to post today but the game kept on crashing, which I know is because I put a super cc-heavy lot in. Why do I constantly sacrifice for the aesthetic? 😒

    1. I’ve never had this issue in the past decade of attempting to play the game… I mean I’ve been plagued by many other problems, but this one is new – look at my luck 🙃 Thanks!
      Haha, I have like 87% of it done and depending on how long this takes to get fixed I might just post it anyway. Heck, the chapter might be even be of a reasonable length for once 😂 I’m still debating it tho…
      I’ve installed some CC since I’ve last played and I wouldn’t even be surprised if that was somehow the reason behind this error, but I tried running the game CC free to no success so idk 🤷‍♀️ I also peeped to see if you posted an update as well *sigh* Why indeed? I was going to say we need to start weighing the pros and cons of the extra content, lmaoo, but since I feel like the crashes are worth it for those gorg pics, it looks like the computers are just going to have to take one for the team and get it together 😇

      1. I would love it if you posted the 87%, but do what you think is best!
        I’m actually done taking pictures, but my writing is also around 87% done haha. I’m a bit stuck but the chapter should be posted within 1-3 hours!
        Lmfao, come on computers! I’m guilty of putting on headphones just to ignore the sound of my laptop dying LOL. Next time, though, I’m just going to build my own set because I only showed like 5% of the lot so… not worth the crashing 😢

      2. Ooh yay~ I’m about to call it a night but I look forward to reading it as soon as I get up 😊 LMAOOOOO, same!!! 😂😭 My fan blasts so loud my housemates can hear it from their adjacent rooms and when they comment on it, I’m like ‘y’all hear something? Cause I sure don’t’ 👀
        I started doing that! I figured since there are enough objects from the previously downloaded lots, I can just place them around and not have to risk going into the world editor and placing new lots. Like you said, they barely get photographed anyways. I say that’s a good call 👌

  5. Oh no…..so frustrating. I do think it’s probably related to the Origin updates. If you are running in compatibility mode, you might not need to do that anymore and it could be virus blockers now too. So many things to check. I would definitely post to EA as well as the group mentioned. I’m sure you can figure it out. Best of luck. I know how frustrating technical issues can be. ❤️❤️❤️

    1. Origin appears to be the growing consensus for suspect #1. I’m leaving it alone for now to see if somehow isolation will let things fall back into place – probably not, lol – but I’ll tinker with it once I reopen it and see if that helps *fingers crossed* EA shall be my subsequent course of action if that doesn’t work out, hehe.

  6. Oh no, I’m so sorry to read you’re having this issue! I know it can be so frustrating when you’re ready to play but the game decides that “no – you’re not the boss of me” lol!
    I honestly have no idea why this is happening, but a lot of people shared their insight, so I’d start from that Origin update and/or the virus blockers. If it’s neither of those things, you could post the error message like Louise said so we could have a better idea… but whatever it is I’m sure it’s fixable, so don’t lose hope! Good luck ❤ ❤

    1. Haha it really has a mind of its own 😂 I shall be trying all of the above with my fingers crossed. I do believe it’s fixable, I just gotta find out what the particular fix is, so I shall cling to hope, for now, lol 😊 I appreciate it!

    first she should take out all her mods and test her game, most often issues stem from there. and copy our troubleshooting guide from our group files for her. if neither of those work, tag me or lori there’s a few more things to try.

  9. Hi, Amy, I don’t know if this will help or not but whenever I hit play on the launcher, I was getting this error: service initialization failed (0x065d0274). Generally, this error pops up when there is a conflict between game files and other installed files on the PC. For me, the problem was Windows Defender blocking the Sims 3. It may be a different program causing the problem for someone else. I’ve also heard in these cases, the super patch might need to be installed.

    1. Hey Kymber, yeah Louise and Jowita mentioned you’ve been having/had a similar issue. I did recently have some of my computer defaults reset while attempting to update it for some reason and I don’t know if that played a part in the games inability to run or not, but I’ll check my installed programs as well in case that’s the cause. I appreciate it!

  10. Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear your game is giving you problems! I’m sorry I can’t be of much help, either. I use CC Magic which completely bypasses the game launcher, and I’ve heard the launcher does seem pretty faulty. If you haven’t added new cc files to your game, than I would assume the problem would be a change elsewhere in the computer? People are saying the origin and windows updates maybe? Have you tried a fresh install? Maybe as a last ditch effort.

    1. A recurring struggle 😪 No worries! Attempting to find the best solution for all of my issues makes me all the more tech savvy 🤓 I did add new CC and I’m currently 89% convinced that’s where the problem arose. Why? Why do I risk comfort for beauty? I’m currently in the process of reinstalling/playing w/o anything so we’ll see how that goes. I appreciate the suggestions!

      1. Ooh yikes, yeah I would assume that is where the problem is then. I really hope you figure it out soon! If not just because I need more Sight, but I know how frustrating it can be trying to troubleshoot game issues.

      2. Im probably going to have ptsd when it comes to downloading CC if/when I manage to get everything sorted 🙃
